A masterpiece or you who love to lay down by the beach and enjoy the sound of water splashing near you is not really too far to reach. Semak Daun Island, a small and unpopulated island of Seribu Islands, might be the best choice to spend your weekend away from the busy Jakarta or other big cities.
Semak Daun Island is located in Seribu Islands which can be reached from three departing points: Marina Port (Ancol), Muara Angke Pier, or Muara Kamal. If you are looking for comfortable transportation, you can buy ticket at Marina Port (Ancol) for around Rp. 200.000 to go to Pramuka Island. A medium-sized boat will take you to Pramuka Island every 7:00 and 9:00 in the morning. The second and third option is for you who want to save your money. In Muara Angke, there are minimum 2 ships departing at 7:00 in the morning to several islands in Seribu Islands. The ticket is around Rp. 35.000 (included insurance) which can be bought directly when you get on the ship. Although these are traditional ships that do not offer you chairs to sit on, many people choose this kind of transportation so you have to be ready early in the morning if you do not want to be left behind. In Muara Kamal, same thing like in Muara Angke is offered, but there are not so many tourists choose this departing point because it is located too far from Jakarta.
There are many islands in Seribu Island, some are unpopulated and others are populated. Pramuka, Tidung, Kelapa, and Pari are some of those which offer you places to stay and other kinds of tourism spots. Snorkeling and diving are the main activities people do when they visit Seribu Island. They do not have views like those in Selayar Island, Raja Ampat, or Bunaken, but with cheap budget, they are surely good bargain to go for. You can rent houses or rooms in those islands for around Rp. 200.000 up to Rp. 400.000. It is better to go in a group because you can rent one house and share the cost with others.
Semak Daun Island is near Pramuka Island, so you must get off at Pramuka Island. To go to Semak Daun Island, you have to rent small traditional wooden ship. It can accommodate up to 20 people for only Rp. 300.000 to get a trip around Pramuka Island only. At Semak Daun Island, there isn’t any place to stay. A small wooden hut at Semak Daun Island is the house of the island caretaker. The wind breeze, fresh smell of the sea, the blue colors wherever you turn your head to, and the nuance which you cannot find anywhere are just the small piece of attraction that Semak Daun has. People do not do much here. Most of the visitors are only there to lay down or sit by the beach. You could not find huge waves here but it is actually the thing that makes Semak Daun so interesting. It is the best place to get peace for a moment. There is no restaurant or cafe at Semak Daun so you must bring your lunch box here.
There are also other islands which are specifically purposed or tourism, like Bidadari Island, Putri Island, Kotok Island, etc. To visit them, you must buy packages they offer online or in Marina Bay, Ancol. Putri Island is one which is highly recommended because it is located pretty far from others and you can have undersea aquarium, komodo dragon, and many interesting activities like snorkeling, diving, jet ski, banana boat, etc. If you are those kind of people who are looking for tourism islands, they are the best choice and friendly for your budget as well.
Visiting those beautiful islands with panorama that you cannot imagine before is easy. From the airport, train station, or bus station in Jakarta, you can find any transportation heading to Pluit area. There is also Transjakarta with Pluit route, so you will no get lost. From Pluit, you can get on public transportation heading to Muara Angke. You have to walk through the fish market, but the island panorama will pay back your suffering with the fishy and stinky smell. If you choose Marina Bay, Ancol, you can get TransJakarta and get off at Ancol, or get a taxi to take you there. Muara Kamal is located in Tangerang, so you have to get a bus to go to Tangerang and transfer to small car which can take you to Muara Kamal.
Besides Thousand Islands (Pulau Seribu), Pangandaran beach is also famous for the panorama. Different than Thousand Islands (Pulau Seribu), at Pangandaran Beach, you can find many hotel ranges from the expensive ones up to the cheap ones. At Pangandaran Beach, you can also surf enjoying the great waves. If Bali is too far to you, then Pangandaran is not. From Jakarta to Pangandaran is only 7 to 8 hours by car or bus or only 30 minutes by plane from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.
